William J. Marek “Bill”

November 11, 1943 – November 30, 2025

Born to Eternal Life on November 30, 2025 at the age of 82. A cherished and treasured Husband, Father and Grandfather left this Earth and with it he took a piece of each of our hearts. Bill is survived by the love of his life, his wife Diane and their greatest legacy – their 2 children, their spouses, and Grandchildren. Devoted, loving and proud father of Denise (Jim) and John (Amy). Much loved Grandpa (Pops) to Nick and Jake Hmielewski, and Charlie and Abby Marek.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Roger and Roberta Marek, his sister Diane Hotchkiss and brother Gary Marek.

Further survived by many family and friends who loved him.

Bill was a devoted husband to his wife Diane for 62 years. They enjoyed everything they did as long as they were together.

Bill was the most loving and devoted husband and father. He was a dedicated family man who was always there for his  children and grandchildren. He loved attending all their sporting events and functions and helping out when he could. At times this was difficult due to his job, but he did his absolute best. His family always came first.

Bill Served 6 years in the U.S. Navy and was part of the “Blockade of Ships ” for the Cuban Missile Crisis. One of his  proudest moments was his ship was carrying President John F. Kennedy’s Helicopter to Germany. Once he retired from the U.S. Navy he Joined the U.S. Army Reserves and served for 23 years.

Bill was a proud member of the Milwaukee Police Department for 31 years. Нe began his career as a patrolman assigned to District 7 and was promoted to Detective with the Criminal Investigation Bureau where he worked in the Robbery Task Force Division until his retirement in 1996. Upon his retirement from the Milwaukee Police Department, Bill joined M&I Bank working full time and rising to the position of Vice President and Head of Corporate Security until he retired in 2011. Bill had many close friends and colleagues over the course of his careers.

We, Bill’s children and grandchildren have been honored all our lives to hear the wonderful memories and stories the coworkers and friends would share. It was through that sharing that we were constantly reminded of the greatness of the man we called Dad, Papa and later on Pops. His heart was huge and his hugs were strong – and if you were a recipient, know that he shared both with love.

He will long be remembered for his loving and sweet personality, his love of family, his love of working outdoors and his many achievements and a willingness to help when needed.

Visitation will be held at Queen of Apostles Catholic Church, N35 W23360 Capitol Drive, Pewaukee, Wisconsin, from 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM. Service at 12:00 PM on Wednesday, December 17, 2025.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Bill’s memory to Tunnel to Towers Foundation, Ronald McDonald House Charities INC, or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
