Ziegler, Virginia Mae “Ginny” (nee Hipsch) Born to this earth on August 4, 1938, to August and Elenore (nee Zaffrann) Hipsch, and to Eternal Life on Tuesday, October 6, 2026, at age 88.
Beloved wife of Charles E. Ziegler, whom she loved something fierce for nearly 63 years, until his death on April 1, 2022. Dearly loved youngest sister of Lenore (Earl) Zabel, Eunice (Robert)
Spaight and Doris (Richard) Groth, all of whom preceded her in death.
Beloved mother of Michael, favorite daughter Linda, Daniel (Penny) and Timothy (Lanette). Loving grandmother of Amanda (Dan) Sonnenburg, Jacob Bram, Amber, Justin (Megan), Zack
and Tyler (Samantha) Ziegler. Proud great-grandmother of Kaelyn, Eli, Adelaide, Gemma, Aiden, Logan, Brekken, Bailey, Zoey and Zachary. Also survived by relatives, dear friends and
her extended church family.
Ginny graduated from Bay View High School in Milwaukee in 1955 and worked at Wisconsin Electric, where she met Chuck, the love of her life, in 1957. She married into a sports-crazy
family and embraced it wholeheartedly—going to Milwaukee Braves games, hooking pinkies with Chuck during tense moments of Al McGuire’s Marquette Warriors basketball games, and becoming a loyal Brewers fan, right through the thrilling NLDS against the Padres this October.
Ginny had a deep love for her family. She loved cheering on her children and grandchildren in heir sports, cooking – especially lasagna, German dumplings and gingerbread cookies – reading
Danielle Steel novels, shopping with Linda, and family gatherings, especially those at the family cottage on Green Lake.
Mom gave her children unconditional love and brought an adventurous spirit to life—whether swimming in the rain or being the favorite chaperone at school functions. She had a quick wit,
an easy smile, a kind heart and a wonderful directness that left little doubt about what she was thinking. She made the home she and Chuck built in New Berlin in 1968 a loving place filled
with nearly six decades of family memories.
Ginny loved her St. Elizabeth Ann Seton church family, where she volunteered as co-chair of the church picnic and senior group. She and Chuck also loved traveling together throughout the
United States, creating even more memories along the way.
The family extends a special and heartfelt thank you to Aurora Hospice, especially Andrea and Ryann, for the kindness and care they gave Ginny and her family in her final days.
We love you, Mom. May your sense of humor, your smile, your kindness and your directness live on in all of us and always be celebrated.
Visitation will be held at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 12700 West Howard Avenue on Saturday, October 17, from 9:30 AM until the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM.
