Called home to the Lord surrounded by his family on June 4, 2024 at age 89.
Beloved husband of Ginny (nee Limburg) for 63 years. Loving father of Bob, Ken (Renee), Steph (Shawn) Ward, and Catie (Jim) Pfeifer. Proud grandpa of Zach, Greg, Doug, Lauren, Nick (Abby), Rachel, Vince, Stevie, Sammy (Jesse), Mitch, and great-grandpa of Theo and Colton. Dear brother of Joe (Cathy), Ellen, and the late David (Susan). Also loved and will be missed by additional family members and friends. Preceded in death by his parents Frank and Catherine Della.
Family, faith and service to his community and country were the most important values to Tom. He was proud of his service to the country as a member of the Air Force for four years working on airplane navigation systems. After an Honorable Discharge from the Air Force, Tom graduated from MATC. He met and married the love of his life, Ginny, and started a family while attending Marquette University in the evenings and working full time. Tom and Ginny were married for 63 years and raised four children.
Tom’s experiences in the Air Force and his continued education, led to a long and successful career in the Industrial Electronics field. Tom was a respected expert in this field and would be called on by his colleagues to fix any problem or provide guidance.
After retirement, Tom and Ginny were fortunate to travel around the United States and many other countries. They also enjoyed attending daily mass and breakfasts with their church group. They were a constant presence for their children and grandchildren, sharing in their lives and milestones, gladly helping whenever called upon.
Throughout his life, Tom was dedicated to his faith and was an active member of St. Anthony on the Lake church in which he participated in many volunteer and charitable roles. He was also a 60-year year member of the Knights of Columbus, in which he served as Grand Knight, District Deputy and participated in degree teams as well as many charitable efforts.
Tom most enjoyed his time with his family. He cherished time at the family cottage, boating and fishing, and loved annual fishing trips to Canada. It was important to him to keep the entire Della Family connected through his and Ginny’s annual July 4th picnic. His greatest joy in life was being an active role in his grandchildren’s and great grandchildren’s lives.
Tom was a dedicated family man, very faithful and always gave of himself. He will be sorely missed by his family and friends.
