Theodora “Lola” Nikas – Entered into eternal life and passed away peacefully on November 21, 2025 at the age of 90.
Born in 1935 and lovingly called “Lola” since she was a child, she grew up with her parents Peter and Amalia Sakarelos and her sisters, Despina and Aphrodite in the village of Krokilion in central Greece.
In 1956, she joined her sister Despina in Milwaukee and called it her home for the remainder of her life. A few years later, she met George Nikas and they were married. Together, George and Lola owned three restaurants over the years in the Milwaukee area, each one called “George’s Restaurant.” The restaurants created many memories in their lives with loved ones, neighborhood friends and church acquaintances. You were sure to have a good meal, great camaraderie and walk out feeling better than when you walked in.
Later in life, after her husband’s passing, Lola lived at the Greek Manor, on the grounds of Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church. Church was the center of Lola’s life. It was a blessing for her to walk to church on any given day joining her friends in bible study, baking or church services. Throughout the years, Lola sang in the church choir, was a member of Philoptochos and Daughters of Penelope, Baking Angels and rarely missed a Sunday liturgy.
Lola will be missed by her nieces and nephews, godchildren, extended family and the many friends she accumulated over the years.
We’d like to thank Linden Grove Memory Care and Angels Grace Hospice for Lola’s caregiving during the last years of her life.
Visitation will be held at the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, 9400 West Congress Street, Milwaukee, Wisconsin on Monday December 8, 2025 from 12:30 PM – 1:00 PM. Funeral Service to begin at 1:00 PM. Burial to follow at Pinelawn Memorial Park in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
