Steven J. Vergetis, age 63, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 13, 2023, surrounded by his friends and family. Steven is survived by his best friend, Alison Valona, siblings Ann (Gene) Wright, Gregg (Curt) Vergetis, Susie (Brian) Satula, Step-Mom Lois (Beste) Vergetis, and Aunt Irene (Vergetis) Veronie. He was an unforgettable and cherished uncle to Jaclyn (Dan) Jecha, Nathan (Karena) Wright, Lauren (Jeff) Luedeke, Alison (Patrick) Tierney, Jake (Alyssa) Bauer, and Nick Bauer, his beloved Godson. He is further survived by great nieces and nephews Audrina, Van, George, Eleni, Archer, Callie, Brooklyn, Caden, and countless cousins and friends.
Preceded in death and back in the loving arms of our parents, Van and Jean (Adamson) Vergetis.
Steven loved a good steak, Rock & Roll, and the solitude of our cabin in the Northwoods. He was one of the most empathetic individuals you would ever meet, treated everyone like family, and chose to see only the good in people, sometimes to a fault. Steven had a big heart, and his body could no longer sustain its compassion.
Private services have been held. The spreading of his ashes and those of his beloved cat, Dani, will be done at a later time. Close friends and family will be notified when a date and time has been finalized.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated to Urban Cat Coalition at www.urbancats.org or Recovery Network Inc. (414) 647-9930.
The family would like to thank the many doctors and nurses at the Froedtert Hospital Cardiac Vascular Care Unit; they are our HEROES. To the employees of Central Aquatics, thank you for your care and friendship to Steven even after he could no longer work. We would also like to acknowledge and thank Alison for her unwavering love and support of our brother; you were his angel on earth.
