Steve Theo

On August 2, 2026 Steve Theo went to meet the LORD at the age of 86. His family is saddened to announce his passing.

He was born on June 20, 1940 in Amigdalia (Plessa), Greece, to Andreas and Giannitsa (Kokmotos) Theoharopoulos.

Steve is survived by his beloved children, Andrew Theo (Jayne), Ted Theoharopoulos (Kristen), Joanne Behling (Tim), and Soula Theo; and his grandchildren, Katarina (William), Arianna (Kostandean), Steven, and Vasoula. He also leaves behind his brother, Vasili, and sisters, Eva and Sophia, as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.

Steve was preceded in death by his parents, Andreas and Giannitsa (Kokmotos) Theoharopoulos, the mother of his four children, Vasiliki Nika, his step-mother, Eleni Theoharopoulos, brother, Peter Theoharis, brother-in-law, Sid, and niece, Kelly Theoharis.

Born in Greece, Steve emigrated to the United States in 1956 with his family in pursuit of opportunity and a better future. Through determination, hard work, and unwavering perseverance, he built a life in the Milwaukee, Wisconsin area that became a testament to the American Dream. A gifted carpenter, he took great pride in his work, leaving a lasting mark on countless homes and businesses throughout the community.

While his craftsmanship was admired by many, it was his character that defined him most. He was a devoted father and a proud grandfather whose greatest joy came from his family. He supported those he loved unconditionally, always offering encouragement, wisdom, and an occasional Greek meal!

To know him was to remember him. Blessed with an extraordinary memory and a genuine interest in people, Steve seemed to know everyone – and everyone seemed to know him. Whether greeting an old friend or meeting someone for the first time, he had a remarkable gift for making people feel seen and valued. His warm smile, great sense of humor, kind heart, and quick conversation had a way of brightening every room he entered.

Steve’s legacy lives on not only in the life he built upon arriving in America, but in the family he cherished, the friendships he cultivated, the community he served, and the countless lives he touched with his generosity, humor, and unwavering love.

“And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me, that you also may be where I am.” – John 14:3

Steve will be truly missed by his family and friends.

Visitation 12:30 PM – 1:00 PM, with service at 1:00 PM, on Friday, August 7, 2026 at Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, 9400 West Congress, Wauwatosa, Wisconsin. Interment at Pinelawn Memorial Park in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to follow.
