(nee Hoerig) Passed away on Saturday, September 30, 2023, at the age of 95, with her loving husband of 75 years, Melvin, by her side. In the mornings he would sing to her, ‘There she is Miss America’, and she would reply ‘there’s my handsome prince’.
Also by her side were her children, Debbie (Donald), Greg (Mary), Carole (Brian) and her grandchildren- Darryl (Kim), Nicole (Luke), Tyler (Michelle), Travis (Alathea) and Tony (Emilee). Further survived by brother-in-law, Earl (Jan), 12 great-grandchildren, 1 great great granddaughter, 2 step-great grandchildren, nieces and nephew. Preceded in death by parents, Benno & Lucille Hoerig and her sisters, Delores (Harold) Dembraski, Joyce (William) Rode and her cat Barney.
Shirley enjoyed her youth on the farm in Hartford, family visiting, shopping, going to restaurants, cooking, flowers, balloons, all of the weekly yummy bakery from her sister-in-law, Jan and spending summers at their cottage. As her sight was failing, she found delight sitting on their deck at home listening to the birds and music from Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin and Elvis.
Visitation will be held at Mother of Perpetual Help Catholic Parish, 2322 South 106th Street, West Allis, Wisconsin 53227, on Monday, October 9, 2023, 10:30 AM-12:00 PM. Mass of Christian Burial at 12:00 PM. Private entombment at Wisconsin Memorial Park.
May She Rest in Peace.
