Scott A. Berg, age 67, found peace on May 26, 2026 after a long battle with Parkinson’s Disease and Lewy Body Dementia. Scott was a loving father, husband and brother.
Born on August 11, 1958 in Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin to Andrew and Caroline (nee Vehrs) Berg. He graduated from Nekoosa High School before attending UW-La Crosse, where he studied mathematics and computer science. He received a masters degree in computer science from Iowa State University. Scott married Lois (nee Van Dyke) on August 24, 1986. Early in Scott’s career, he worked for Kimberly-Clark in Neenah, WI. Later, a job at Allen-Bradley brought him to Milwaukee. Scott worked as a Senior Software Engineer until his retirement in 2019, working for companies like GE, Cooper Power, Criticare Systems and many others. His specialty was in development and testing of a wide range of embedded systems software.
Scott was an Alderman for the City of Brookfield, representing residents for over 20 years. Scott contributed to major city developments like the Sharon Lynne Wilson Center for the Arts and Jaycees Skate Park at Wirth Park. During his tenure, Scott was chair of the Finance Committee, Sewer and Water Board, Board of Public Works and on occasion, fill-in Mayor. Scott always listened to residents’ concerns with care.
Scott enjoyed science fiction movies, birdwatching, reading about current events and stargazing with the Milwaukee Astronomical Society. As a family, Scott, Lois, and their daughters enjoyed road trips around Wisconsin and the Midwest, often celebrating his birthday at the Wisconsin State Fair.
Scott was preceded in death by his father, Andrew Berg; mother, Caroline Berg; and his brothers James (Ellen) and Nicholas (Harriet) Berg, in-laws Gerald and Melrose (Alderden) Van Dyke.
He is survived by his wife, Lois (Van Dyke), daughters Elizabeth Berg and Genevieve Berg, his sisters Susan Debner, Lois (Phil) Stack, Anne (Randy) Arndt, sister-in-law Nola Van Dyke, beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins. Scott is remembered by many other relatives and dear friends.
The Berg family thanks Brighton Hospice and Silverado North Shore for taking care of Scott during his final months.
