Sandra “Sandy” Larsen (née Morell) passed away peacefully in her sleep, just as she always wished, on 4/12/2026 at age 83.
Proud mother of Brian (Georgia) Larsen, Kim (Walter) Tuer, and Barry (Sandy) Larsen. Loving grandma of Brian Larsen, Jr. (Chelsea), Amanda Munson (Aaron), Barry Larsen (fiancé Ashley), and Brady Larsen. Adoring great-granny of nine: Scarlett, Lincoln, Jackson, Loralei, Quinn, Makenna, Evelina, Pierce, and Cooper. Cherished sister of Joanne (Bob) Hoffmann and Mike (Sandy) Morell. Also loved by nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.
Preceded in death by her parents, Joe Jr and Viola Morell, and her son Marty Larsen III.
Sandy found her greatest joy in caring for others, whether it was through a warm meal, a sweet treat, or a frozen meal to-go. Her kitchen and home were a place of comfort, and she will always be remembered for her famous “melted moment” Christmas cookies. More than anything, she loved her family and friends deeply. She treasured and anxiously awaited long phone calls with her daughter. She was always eager to hear what her friends, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were up to. She followed their lives closely, offering encouragement, advice, and unconditional love. She held big dreams for her great-grandchildren and believed in the bright futures ahead of them.
Her working years reflected her caring spirit. She spent much of her life babysitting, nurturing and guiding children as if they were her own. She also worked at Spheeris Sporting Goods and Burlington in retail, and served as a bartender at the Elks Lodge, forming lasting connections wherever she went. In her free time, she spent many years playing bingo and teaching her friends and family all her silly superstitions. She will always be remembered for her search to find the best deal, no matter how many stops it took, and for turning every saved dollar into a small victory. She enjoyed watching Hallmark movies, learning how to use new technology, and sipping micheladas at Casa de Alberto’s. She also had a lighthearted side and was famously easy to prank. We will miss the sounds of her laughter and joy.
A celebration of life will be held in June; the exact date is still being finalized. Family and friends will be notified of the date, time, and location once details are confirmed.
We love you and miss you, but you’ll be in our hearts forever.
You believed that butterflies were a symbol of those we have lost—
a gentle reminder that love never truly leaves us.
“Talk at you later.”
