Surrounded by family, Ruth was called to heaven on February 20th, 2019 at 89 years of age. She is preceded in death by loving husband Eugene Rasch (1927-2010). Cherished mother of Laurie (Gary Anoszko) Rasch, Lisa Peterson, and Leslie (Mark) Rasch-Hiller. Adored grandmother of Elias Anoszko, Heidi Anoszko, Leslie, Marita, and Ian Peterson, Nicholas Hiller, and Katrina Hiller Rohe.
Ruth was born in Brooklyn, NY in 1929. At age 12, Ruth and her parents moved to Milwaukee. She attended Shorewood Junior and Senior High School. Ruth graduated Cum Laude from Milwaukee-Downer College with a B.A. in English Literature. Wed in 1953, she was married to Eugene William Rasch for 57 years. Ruth was a devoted wife and mother. Her many interests included gardening and reading. Her love of family and history led her to her life’s passion for genealogy. Her genealogy work “was an obsession, a purpose in life.” She worked tirelessly in creating family historical records that will be treasured for generations.
Ruth touched many lives with her generous spirit, her faith in God, and her involvement in her community. Her unconditional love for her husband, children and grandchildren was unwavering.
Ruth was an active member in her church, and spiritual devotion was part of her everyday life. She was a troop leader and volunteer for the Girl Scouts. She was president of the Waukesha County Genealogical Society, and for many years taught classes on the subject. Ruth was a firm believer of being involved, whether it was church, school, or community. Her favorite charity was the Humane Animal Welfare Society, reflecting her great love for animals.
God’s word was the guiding principle in her life. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her. Sweet dreams, Mom, Grandma, friend.
Visitation will be held on Monday, February 25, 2019 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Krause Funeral Home, 21600 West Capitol Drive Brookfield, Wisconsin. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, Feb 26 at 11:00 AM at Christ the Life Lutheran Church, 3031 Summit Avenue, Waukesha, Wisconsin.
