Passed away peacefully on May 7, 2023, at age 91. Beloved husband of Ramona JoAnn for 67 years. Loving father of Karen (the late William) Pionke, Ronnie John Bruner, Frank Bruner, and the late Kathy Jo. Proud grandpa of Kassandra Brickner-Kebir, Megan (Corey) Ames, William J. Pionke, Frank Bruner Jr., and Nathan Bruner. Adoring great-grandpa of Avelynn, Brennan, Oberyn, and Ellison. Special friend of Ken Gilchrist, Pete Lorenzen, Dick Title, and Jon Gustavson. Also loved by nieces, nephews, other family and friends. Preceded in death by his parents Ralph and Gladys Bruner, grandmother Viola Bruner, step-mother Marge Bruner, and sisters Shirley Struve and Norma Byers.
Ron retired as a Sergeant from MPD, and retired as a Master Chief from the US Navy. He was a member of Masonic Lodge Lake No. 189 and Scottish Rite. Also member of FRA Branch 14, American Legion #415, VFW #7485, USS Toledo 133 Assn., NERA, Armed Forces Top Enlisted Assn., Milwaukee Police Assn., and Milwaukee Retired Fire and Police Assn. Ron was involved with the Korean Memorial and United States Navy Memorial (Plankowner). He actively participated in West Allis Special Olympics and the Law Enforcement Torch Ride for many years. He was an avid cyclist and swimmer.

Visitation at Krause Funeral Home, 12401 W. National Ave., New Berlin, on Friday, May 19, 2023, from 3:00 to 6:45 PM. Service at 7:00 PM. Meet at office for burial at Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery on Monday, May 22, 2023, at 9:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, memorials appreciated to National MS Society and American Diabetes Association.
