Robert (Bob) H. Fuelling, 86, of Milwaukee, left peacefully on June 26, 2026.

Loving husband of Dorothy (Schneider) for 41 years. Cherished brother of Ann (David) Collier, Dorothy (the late Harry) Stewart, Johnny (Ann) Fuelling, and Mark (Becky) Fuelling. Also loved by many brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Martin and Wilma Fuelling.

Born in Moline, IL, Bob moved to Chicago to attend DeVry Technical Institute. A few years later, he joined the military and proudly served in the United States Air Force from May 1962 to June 1970, earning the rank of Staff Sergeant. Bob trained on the Mace-B missile and B-52 long range bomber hound dog missile inertia guidance systems. As a missileer, he manned the overnight shift in Florida during the Cuban missile crisis, moving on to Okinawa, Japan during the Vietnam war. Bob trained many airmen and worked on missile guidance system computers.

After his honorable discharge, Bob earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting at Southern Illinois University in 1976. He had a long, successful career as an accountant in the manufacturing sector, first with Bucyrus Erie and then with Telsmith, retiring in 2008.

Bob and Dorothy were married on November 10, 1984 and settled in Milwaukee, WI, where they opened their home to many students in training at the Medical College of WI. His spirit of volunteerism shined through at St. Jude the Apostle Catholic Church. Bob was also a proud lifelong member of the American Legion, donating to support those civilians impacted by war in other countries and traveling to their annual conferences in the U.S. to spend time with his Legion friends.

Bob was a gentle man, loved by all his family and friends, but especially Dorothy, the love of his life.

There will be a private memorial ceremony for Bob at a local veteran’s cemetery.
