Robert Bellin passed peacefully in his home, in his favorite chair, in his favorite room with his beloved wife Penny and one of their caregivers. Bob was the son of a fireman and the grandson of a policeman in Milwaukee. He was the second generation of this line of Bellins born in America. After graduating from Marquette High School, he studied psychology at Marquette University and then earned a juris doctor from University of Wisconsin-Madison Law School. He became the 11th attorney at Reinhart, Boerner and Van Deuren law firm where he practiced corporate law for 5 decades. He sat on the boards of numerous organizations including the Donna Lexa Centers and Direct Supply. It brought him tremendous joy to see organizations flourish and to help people in the community and beyond. He retired in 2016, but remained of counsel until he moved out of his Reinhart office, in Waukesha, in 2022. While Bob was CEO of Reinhart, for ten years, the firm grew into one of the largest firms in the Midwest.
Along the path of accomplishing his professional endeavors, Bob married the love of his life, Penelope (nee Alex). He first saw her when she worked in a drug store and he knew she was the one. When she toured Europe after high school, Bob visited her parents almost everyday. And when Penny could not be found for 2 weeks, Bob consoled her mom. When she arrived back stateside, he grabbed ahold of her and never let go.
Four kids, a triple bypass, a wife’s life-altering stroke, numerous parties and outings, friendships gained and lost, the births of grandkids, and the passing of family and friends, and a lifetime transpires in a blink. Bob taught the lessons that are often the most difficult to learn that a good life is about commitment, devotion, care and consideration, honesty, sincerity, and self-control. He taught us that life, while centered around one, is really about everything and everyone else. He believed that as members of the community, we are responsible for its health, its growth and care, and its efficacy. With that in mind, his family asks that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to a charity of your choosing in his name. If anyone is looking for effective caring charities, Bob would recommend the Donna Lexa Art Centers, Doctors without Borders, Alzheimer’s Organizations, St. Jude Hospital and ASPCA.
Bob is survived by his wife of 58 years, Penelope, his four sons, Rob (Stephanie), Bill (Jessica), Paul (Refiloe), and Michael (Alicia), grandchildren, Lauren, Jake, Caden, Owen, Tenzin, Nathaniel, Kelello, Zane, Leruo, great-grandchild Brooks and further survived by sister Bonnie (David Kostreva). Bob was preceded in death by his mother and father, Elinore and William, and his youngest sister Mary (John Rydzewski).
Bob was really a remarkable character and will be greatly missed. It’s hard to forget his smile, his stories, his cunning repartee and uncanny wit.
Visitation will be at Krause Funeral Home, 21600 West Capitol Drive, Brookfield, Wisconsin on Friday, September 27, 2024 from 11:00 AM – 1:15 PM. Homily and Remembrance Service at 1:30 PM.
