Robert “Bob” E. Melzer

Robert (Bob) E. Melzer, of Columbus, WI, formerly of Madison, passed away on Saturday, December 9, 2023.

Bob was born on February 9, 1938 in Milwaukee, WI and is survived by Judy (Helme) his beloved wife of 66 years. Bob was a proud father of David (Pat), and Kathy, Grandfather to Greg (Brandy) and Brad (Lauren), and Great-grandfather to Alyssa, Clara, Victoria (Tory) and James. Bob is also survived by his brother Eugene (Jean), sister Barbara (Jay), sister-in-law Phyllis, and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar and Laura Melzer, and his brother Allen.

Bob graduated from Custer High School, Milwaukee in 1956. Throughout the years, Bob was a successful real estate agent in Menomonee Falls, a motel owner/operator in Wisconsin, Illinois, Texas and Colorado, and a carpet cleaning business owner. He was an avid outdoorsman, and enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing, and all wildlife. Together with Judy, they enjoyed driving adventures and saw a good portion of the U.S., including Alaska, as well as Canada and Mexico. He enjoyed watching his favorite teams–the Packers, Brewers, Bucks, and Badgers.

The Family is grateful to: Dr. Victoria Cheung and UW Health of Madison, Crossroads Rehab facility of Sun Prairie, Larson House Assisted Living of Columbus, Generations Hospice, and Prairie Ridge Health Hospital of Columbus for their care and comfort during the past years.
