Passed into Eternal Life on November 27, 2023 at age 78. Admired, cherished, loving husband, and soul-mate of Marlene for 23 years. Their marriage was one of fun, humor, admiration, and a love that made them seem like teenagers. Step-father of Jason Shandor. Brother of Elizabeth (Dennis) Ojanpera and Rita (Al Pruitt) Oaks. Brother-in-law of Merlin (Barbara) Grosenick, Myren Grosenick, and Craig (Sherri) Grosenick. Dear uncle of Jane (William) Stavropoulis and Kim Sharp. Rick was also loved and will be missed by innumerable family members and friends. Rick was preceded in death by his parents Lloyd and Mabel Simmons and brother Douglas Simmons.

Rick graduated from the University of Minnesota. He proudly served in the US Army providing medical services during the Vietnam War. He was the president and owner of Wisconsin Medical Systems and retired in 1999. Rick enjoyed boating, traveling, and shooting with his wife Marlene. He had a sharp wit and inventive mind, who loved to tinker with things large and small. He was a man of faith who loved God, family, friends, and country. He was a friend to many and will be dearly missed, more than he could have ever imagined.

A Celebration of Rick’s Life will be held in June 2024.

I met Rick & Marlene when I did the remodel on their home in Delafield. They both were just a pleasure to work with and be with. I will remember Rick's kindness, sense of humor, and the joy to just be around him. Marlene, I wish you all the love and best wishes. I will miss you Rick and it was a joy to know you!!! Rest in Peace.

Rick’s courage, strength of character and amazing quick wit have made a lasting and profound imprint on our lives. We have been blessed and grateful to call him our friend and we miss him. Every memory includes Rick greeting us with open arms, a huge grin and that sparkle in his crystal blue eyes. Then non-stop laughter with Rick and Mar together — so perfect together. We are certain Rick’s playful spirit now shines on in Heaven, he continues to love you Mar and he will have no problem finding you again. We look to the promise of what lies ahead. God’s Blessings

Rick was my friend for over 47 years. He was so driven to be successful and of course he was. Not so much in his love life but then he met his LRHG. Little Red Haired Girl and all that changed. You cant talk about Rick without mentioning Marlene. Theirs is a love story that will last forever. I will miss you my friend, but your memory will live on in the hearts and minds of many.

Rick will be sorely missed by us. He was the source of so many great times that we will miss. He was such a devoted husband to you and he fought through his cancer so bravely. We love him and are so lucky to have had him in our lives. He is with the angels now.

Peace of mind is a call away. We’re here when you need us most.

Forever young, Forever in our hearts- Forever Loved by all. What a shining star you are, Rick. Until we meet again, God Bless and hold you!

Rick was such a terrific soul...he will be missed!

Farewell my amazing, loving "honey-pie". I know that you will be one of God's best soldiers in heaven, without having pain and suffering as you have had the last two years.
