Passed away peacefully on June 17, 2026, age 80. Devoted, most loving husband and best friend of Dharma “Sweetie” (nee Guerrero) for 32 years. Loving dad of Anthony Hammond, John Hammond, Debbie (Greg) Zalewski, Andrea (partner, Aaron Schwiesow) Smokovicz, Jay Hammond, Arielle (Christian) Staal and Annabelle (Ryan) Walkoe. Proud grandpa of Luke Hammond, Josh Zalewski, Molly Zalewski, Grayson Staal and Riley Staal. Preceded in death by his parents, Homer and Anna (nee Oprean) Hammond, siblings, Bernice, Roseanne, James and Joe. Brother-in-law of Randy Molla. Best son-in-law of Frances and Rudy Molla. Also loved by other relatives and special friends. He will especially by missed by Cody, Stormy, Jake, Blaze, Homer and Tucker.

Richard served as a paratrooper in the US Army’s, 101st Airborne Division. He loved being in his backyard in nature. Spending time with his wife in Door County and Lake Geneva. He enjoyed face painting with his granddaughter, Grayson. Richard used to do carpentry and build things with Annabelle. He shared dad jokes with Arielle. He liked motorcycle trips with his riding buddies, Greg and Ron.

Gathering at Krause Funeral Home, 12401 West National Drive, on Thursday, July 2, from 4:00 PM – 6:45 PM. Celebration of life at 7:00 PM.
