Raymond Joseph Dubis, 89, passed away at home on June 2, 2023. Born to immigrant parents who preceded him in death, Adam and Catherine Dubis came through Ellis Island in 1912 and settled in the Bay View area. Ray is survived by his loving wife, Erna Dubis, his children Michael Dubis (Vicki), Karen Dubis (Carol Starr), and Susan Michalski. Sweet Grandpa to Andrew Gross, Adam Dubis (Rand), Joshua Dubis (Jenni), Joseph Dubis (Jennifer), Christopher Dubis (Laura), and John Michalski. Very Proud Great Grandpa to Mason, Hannah, Allison, James, Benjamin, Emily, Alexander and one on the way.
Ray graduated from Bay View High School in 1952 and joined the Milwaukee Police Department in the first class of Police-Aides. He joined the Army in 1955 and then returned to become a Milwaukee Police Officer and marry the love of his life, Erna. Ray was an officer for 37 years, retiring in 1989 from District #3. His two children, Michael Dubis and Karen Dubis, followed in his footsteps joining the Milwaukee Police Department and retired as a captain and a lieutenant. His son-in-law, Michael Michalski, married to daughter Susan, also became a police officer and was killed in the line of duty on July 25, 2018. Presently, grandson Andrew is carrying the torch as a police officer on the Milwaukee Police Department.
Ray loved to fish, hunt, play cards, and camp at Buffalo Lake near Minocqua or wherever the road would take him with his family. Ray loved his wife Erna with all of his heart, a “million times a million.” He also loved his family sooooooo much. Ray was a kind, loving, generous, and patient Dad, Grandpa and Great Grandpa. We will miss you so very much, you are so loved and will always be loved.
