Rayfield “Noon” Johnson was born in Chattanooga, TN on March 16, 1930. He was the only child of John, and Emily Walton. He was introduced to Christ at a young age.
At Howard High School, where Rayfield graduated with the Class of 1950, he was a “lettered” football player whom teammates and fans called “Huckabuck Noon”. He earned the name because of a dance he did after scoring touchdowns! He served in the military then attended Milwaukee Area Technical College. Rayfield worked in manufacturing at Allis-Chalmers, then the United States Postal Service, and retired from the Milwaukee County Transit System after 28 years of service.
His hobbies were hunting, fishing, camping and dancing. He took pride in a well-manicured lawn, always enjoyed a good cookout, and loved spending time with family. He was a devoted father.
Rayfield transitioned to eternity on Wednesday, March 20, 2019.
He was predeceased by his adoring mother, “Em”, his father, John, and “Aunt” Lila who was like a second mother.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving wife, Rose King-Johnson; Sons: LeBron Butts, TN ; Rodney Johnson, FL; Rafael (Rose) Johnson, MA; Clifford (Deb) Johnson, TX; Marvin Johnson, Eric (Pamela) Johnson, FL; Joseph (Juanita) King, AZ; Timothy (Kimberly) Johnson, Rayfield Johnson, John Johnson all of WI. Daughters: Tawanna (Russell) Sellars, GA; Giovannia Brown, OK; Sarena Grant; Gwendolyn Graham, Melody Johnson, Michelle (Curtis) Dowl, Emily (Jim) Addison all of WI; Tashia Garry, NV. 50 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren, beloved cousin, Joan Kimbell, as well as a host of many other devoted family members and friends.
Rayfield recently celebrated his 89th birthday surrounded by loved ones. He spoke wisdom and talked about the “good old days” he had. The last words he uttered were, “I love you too, more than you know.”
Visitation will be held at Krause Funeral Home, 9000 West Capitol Drive, Milwaukee, WI, on Friday, March 29, 2019, 12:00 PM – 2:45 PM. Funeral Service at 3:00 PM.
