Went to be with his Savior on December 11, 2023, at age 90. He was reunited with his beloved wife of over 60 years, Barbara (Krenz). Loving dad to Dr. Susan (Dr. Lowell) Holtz, Ann (Niranjan) Kale, Nancy (Tom) Olson, and Diane (John) Gilroy. Proud Grandpa to eleven grandchildren, Sarah (Rev. Jasper), Amalia (Alec), Jacob (Jessica), Tommy (Jenny), Austin (Hayley), Caleb (Katlyn), Martha (Brandon), Christopher (Bethany), Alekh, Connor, and Kaylyn, and eight great grandchildren, Logon, Xaris, Josiah, Miriam, Tre, Elianna, Eliza, and Isaiah. Will also be missed by his sister, Lois and sister-in-law Janice, nieces, nephews, cousins, other family and friends.
After retiring from American Motors / Chrysler Corporation, Phil also enjoyed working at Almon Inc. and Milwaukee SportService (rightfield Leinie’s Lodge). Phil was a faithful and active member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church where he worshiped, attended Bible study, and served on numerous boards and committees. Phil and Barbara were also active volunteers at Martin Luther High School. Phil was a dedicated blood donor, skilled craftsman, and avid gardener who especially loved his dahlias and wildflowers.
Even as his dementia progressed and he required more care, Phil never lost his kind manner. He was grateful for the care he received and always made a point to say thank you.
The family would like to thank the amazing staff and caregivers at Tudor Oaks for their compassion and love.
Visitation will be held at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 7821 West Lincoln Avenue, West Allis, Wisconsin on Friday, December 22, 2023 from 1:00 PM – 2:45 PM followed by a service at 3:00 PM. Private burial at Pinelawn Memorial Park.
