Pete and I roomed together at the Annex in Whitewater the summer of 1968. Pete had two years of school temaining, and I graduated in August. He and I formed a close relationship that summer that lasted until he died. Pete and I would talk frequently over the phone. We seemed to tell the same stories on every phone call, and we would laugh as hard every time we repeated the stories. Pete was also the first fraternity brother I would consult before organizing four fraternity reunions. We came to address each other as Mr. Watson and Mr. McGill. We figured nobody else would do this so we did it ourselves. I have so many other wonderful memories.. I came to love Pete as a real brother. I’m missing him dearly already. I’m so glad Jane and I visited Pete and Marcia a few days before he died. It was a bittersweet but very important visit for me. Jane and I will continue to pray for the Lord to comfort Marcia and the entire family as they grieve the loss of Pete. The Lord is faithful to meet our needs in every situation.

Arthur Nennig, Jr left a message on March 31, 2026:
To all the folks that knew Pete, it was difficult to see him go through the trials of the last 16-17 months, but he is finally home with the Lord. His story telling will continue and he is probably still explaining to St Peter how he happened to come to Heaven's gates. He was a great friend and Lambda Chi Alpha brother going back to our days at Whitewater. There were years where we didn't connect a lot, but following retirement, Pete ask me to join a group of retired gentlemen (if I can call them that) for a Tuesday morning coffee gathering. That put us back together as if we had not been gone from Whitewater for 40+ years. Given the characters that met for coffee, Tuesday mornings were the highlight of the week where we could gather and solve the problems of the world. We also caused a lot of people to leave Panera's earlier than they had anticipated as we were a little aggressive in our discussions of how the world should run. Growing up, I had a lot of sisters, but never a brother. Pete became that brother as we bonded over these many years. Sometimes it was scary as we both seemed to have a lot of the same views on politics, sports, etc. I will miss him dearly, and our coffee group is now down to two. We will continue to keep his candle lit as long as we can continue to meet. To Marcia and the family - he was one great man and we will all miss him. Arthur Nennig, Jr.
