On Thursday, September 20, 1945, Hallie Mae and Elvi Barton welcomed their first son, Perry Carl Barton. Perry was affectionately known as Carl or Deacon by his family and closest friends. Perry claimed his final resting place on Friday, January 10, 2025.
Perry grew up in Kosciusko, Mississippi and enjoyed the family-oriented life with his parents, Aunt Wardene, siblings and grandparents. Perry received his education in the Attala County school system. After graduating from high school, Perry joined the United States Army. He proudly served and protected his country during the Vietnam War.
Perry was an advocate for education and received his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from the University of Wisconsin. He had a passion for helping others and had a prosperous career working for Milwaukee County. Perry inherited his entrepreneurial skills from his father and had successful proprietorships in Mississippi and Wisconsin.
Perry married Elve Moore in 1970 and to this union, his beloved daughter Carla was born. Later in life he married Ann Rancher.
Proceeding Perry in death were his parents, Hallie and Elvi Barton, his sister and best friend, Elaine Perteet and her husband, Willie, his beloved wives, Elve and Ann, his precious daughter, Carla Barton and his beloved brother, JT Barton.
He leaves to carry on his legacy his beloved grandchildren Christian Barton, Pierre Burns Jr, Kaylia Humphrey and Kwame Humphrey, his cousins, Cleveland and Willis Barton, who were raised and cherished as brothers, and his nieces and nephews, Russell, Burt, Shuvette, Yolanda, Ferrance, Willie, Leonard and Evan.
Private burial with military honors at Southern Wisconsin Veterans Cemetery in Union Grove, Wisconsin.
