Died September 11, 2017 at age 91. Born June 25, 1926 and was raised on the South Side of Milwaukee. He attended St. Matthew’s Parochial School, Pulaski High School, State Teachers College and the University of Wisconsin – Madison. Paul proudly served in the U. S. Army Air Force and was discharged as a Corporal. His service continued on as a member of Selective Service Board No. 42 for over 25 years. He was very proud of his service to his country. Paul was firm in his faith as a Catholic. He was instrumental in the establishment of St. Therese Parish and was a member of the parish council for many years. He was active in the Waukesha Lodge of Elks #400, American Legion Post #0489, and the Centurions of St. Joseph’s Hospital. The majority of his early working career was spent in various areas of the insurance industry. This culminated for him as a Partner in MacGillis Agency Insurance for over 25 years. On retirement, Paul and Florence became Snowbirds alternating seasons between Hot Springs Village, Arkansas and Mercer, Wisconsin. Paul enjoyed reading, music, golfing and his church. He especially enjoyed conversations with friends and acquaintances over a brandy and a smoke. He could repair anything and seemed driven by the challenge of how things worked. Paul was preceded in death by his loving wife of 66 years, Florence; parents Crescent and Regina; siblings James, John and Mary Capelli. Survived by his children Timothy, Thomas (Sally), John (Elaine) MacGillis, and Jean (Kevin) LaMere; grandchildren Ryan (Leah), Christopher (Ann), Kyle (Dianna), Sean, Elle, Scott, Alexandra, and Danielle. Further survived by his brother Alexander (Mary), relatives and friends.
Gathering at St. Therese Parish, 9525 West Bluemound Road, Tuesday September 19, 2017, 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM. Mass of Christian Burial at noon.
The family wishes to thank the staff of Linden Grove in New Berlin and Allay Hospice for their kindness to Paul.
