Patricia “Pat” Murphy

Patricia Jane Murphy (née Thoeny) Born to eternal life on March 30, 2026, at the age of 96.

Pat was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 64 years, Jerry; her parents, Mabel Allen and William Thoeny; and her sister, Wilma (Roy) Heise.

She was the loving mother of Scott (Ann) Murphy and Sherry Millen, and the proud grandmother of Eric and Erin Millen, and Madeline and Samantha Murphy.

Pat was born on April 15, 1929 in La Crosse, Wisconsin. She grew up in Milwaukee, where she attended West Division High School and later graduated from Milwaukee State Teachers College. The year 1951 was especially meaningful for Pat: she graduated from college, married the love of her life, and began her career with Milwaukee Public Schools. Though she stepped away from teaching for a time to raise her two children, she ultimately devoted 25 years to educating students in Milwaukee.

Pat enjoyed many creative and fulfilling pursuits throughout her life, including reading, sewing, crafts, and beautiful stained glass works of art. She held a special love for the Northwoods, where she and Jerry spent many cherished summers at their cabin. Pat deeply appreciated the beauty of nature and all of God’s gifts.

A longtime resident of Brookfield, Pat was a faithful member of Reformation Lutheran Church, where she had been a member since 1953.

In lieu of flowers, Pat requested that donations be made to any cause that helps make the world a kinder and more loving place. She would have liked that.
