Nancy fought a courageous battle against cancer, but her spirit remained unyielding until the end.
Nancy lived a remarkable life filled with love, laughter, and countless cherished memories. Her unwavering strength, kindness, and zest for life touched the hearts of all who knew her. Nancy will be remembered as a devoted mother, and sister, a caring aunt, and a loyal friend. Mary Kellbach (Ghering) was her best friend forever. Nancy’s nurturing nature and selflessness made her an irreplaceable figure in our lives. She had an incredible ability to brighten any room with her infectious smile and compassionate heart. Throughout her life, Nancy was passionate about so many things.
While at Slinger High School in Slinger, WI, Nancy was involved in Glee club, mixed chorus and Triple Trio. She loved to sing. Nancy also played the guitar, both classical and electric. She was Class Secretary, as well as a cheerleader and in Pep Squad. She was the Future Homemakers of America Vice President In addition to being on the Prom Court. She was a Historian and was involved in The Parliamentarian Club. Being the brilliant artist that she was, Nancy submitted work to the Milwaukee Journal’s 19th annual student art calendar contest and had her artwork on display at the Milwaukee Journal art gallery. She graduated from Slinger High School in 1963.
Her enthusiasm for these endeavors inspired those around her and left a lasting impact on everyone who knew her. Nancy was incredibly gifted in so many ways. To add to her many hobbies, talents and interests, she also loved to dance. She would enter dance contests and won quite a number of them including many “one minute” dance contests. She continued pursuing her passions. She adored sketching, painting and playing the guitar. In the evening, Nancy loved going to Marty Zivcos which was a popular “Art- Deco” Style dance ballroom for young adults who loved to dance.
In 1964 Nancy fell in love and married Ken Felsing. They moved to Butler, WI. Two years later, on September 8, 1966, they added a beautiful little girl to their family. They named her Stacy Marie. Stacy meant the world to them. Nancy adored her and cherished her. Stacy brought so much joy as their one and only child. Nancy was married to Ken for 22 years.
Nancy enjoyed life to the fullest. She took pride in her position as Bakery-Deli Manager at Sentry. She was an avid snow-skier, water-skier and she adored roller skating, especially dance-roller skating.
She took pride and cherished planting her flower gardens. The colors and varieties brought her great joy. She also found peace in being in nature. Taking camping trips, deer hunting and fishing in the North-woods of Wisconsin.
Nancy had a passion for baking. She loved collecting recipes. During Christmas and throughout the years, Nancy would delight us with her beautiful and delicious pies. Some of her awesome pies included Pumpkin, berry and Pecan. She delighted in entering numerous pies into the Annual 4th of July New Berlin Pie Bake-off. She won both first and second prizes for her pies.
Nancy loved singing and found enjoyment in being a member of the Bel Canto Chorus. As a member of the New Berlin Senior Center, she coordinated writing letters to veterans overseas.
In addition to Nancy’s many accomplishments, she treasured spending time with her family and friends. Whether it was hosting memorable gatherings or offering unwavering support during challenging times, she brought joy and comfort to all who crossed her path. Nancy leaves behind a legacy of love and resilience that will be carried on by her grieving family.
We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to the medical professionals and caregivers who supported Nancy throughout her illness. Their dedication and compassion brought comfort to her during her most difficult moments. In celebrating the life of Nancy Thurstin, we find solace in knowing that she has found peace and will be watching over us as our guardian angel.
Her memory will forever remain in our hearts, and her impact will continue to inspire us. Nancy is the loving mom of Stacy Felsing. Dear sister of Roberta (Don) Thurstin Timmerman, Earl (Irene) Thurstin and the late Kathleen Witte and Linda Thurstin. Sister-in-law of Wilbert Witte. She is also survived by nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
A gathering will take place on Friday, June 9, 2023, at Krause Funeral Home, 21600 West Capitol Dr., Brookfield, from 4:00 PM until 5:45 PM. Memorial service at 6:00 PM.
