Passed away on Wednesday, February 25, 2026, at age 74, after yearlong battle with cancer. Preceded in death by wife of 19 years, Connie, and parents Ervin and Margaret Johnson. Loving brother to Barbara and Jerome. Beloved father of Jamison Johnson (Katie), Sarah Kafka (Chad) and Rebecca Johnson (Juan). Stepfather to Scott Merkel (Michelle) and Dawn Merkel. Grandfather to Haylee, Makenzie, Rey, Reina, Kaeva, and Celie. Step grandfather to Elizabeth and Rachel.

Born in Milwaukee, WI, Mike attended Brookfield East High School and worked for The Kroger Company (and predecessor company Kohl’s) for 55 years. Mike loved music, notably the Beatles, Jimi Hendrix and Pink Floyd and was on a first name basis with all dogs he met. He enjoyed photography and dabbling in acting and painting. He treasured his daily routine of reading the newspaper cover to cover, completing the crossword, keeping current with the news and his sports teams and most of all his daily brandy old fashioned before dinner.

The family would like to thank the staff at Aurora Home Hospice, especially Renee and Colson, and the team at Aurora Zilber Family Hospice for the compassionate and impactful care they provided.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 12, 2026, at Krause Funeral Home, 9000 West Capitol Drive, in Milwaukee, from 4:00 PM – 5:45 PM. Service to follow at 6:00 PM.
