In Loving Memory of Michael John Matancsi
January 30, 1945 – March 1, 2026
Michael “Mike” Matancsi, age 81, passed away peacefully in the comfort of his own home on March 1, 2026. A proud husband, father, grandpa, and veteran, Mike leaves behind a legacy of service, loyalty, and deep family love. He was preceded in death by his parents, Emily (Holly), Frank, and his brother, Thomas.
Mike was a graduate of St. Michael’s Grade School, West Division High School, MATC (MIT), and UW-Whitewater. During his college years, he found a lifelong brotherhood in the Tau Theta Epsilon Fraternity. These life-long friendships, filled with shared stories, memories and laughter, remained a cornerstone of his life.
A proud veteran, Mike honorably served in the U.S. Army from 1967 to 1970, including a year stationed in Vietnam. He later continued his commitment to his fellow service members as a Commander for the American Legion Post 180 in the late 1970s.
Following his military service, Mike married the love of his life, Nancy (Wisniewski), on August 21, 1971. Together, they built a beautiful life of love over 54 years. Mike’s greatest joy were his three children: Nikki (Tom Kucharski), Chad (Andrea Korom), and Zachary (Diana Deters). His spirit lives on through his nine grandchildren: Myah, Tommy, Zander, Ava, Casey, Mason, Leia, Sammy, and Myla.
Mike is further survived by close family members, friends, and his companion Coco.
Michael will be remembered for his strength, sharp wit, and enduring dedication to those he loved. He will be deeply missed by all who had the opportunity of knowing him.
