Melvin Sidney Ray
Passed away on Sunday, December 10, 2023, at the age of 95. Missing his wife of 75 years, Shirley, he sadly passed away of a broken heart. She appeared to him at the foot of his bed to tell him to come home.
Alongside his journey were his children Debbie (Donald), Greg (Mary), Carole (Brian) and his grandchildren- Darryl (Kim), Nicole (Luke), Tyler (Michelle), Travis (Alathea), Tony (Emilee). Special to his heart were his 12 great-grandchildren, 1 great great granddaughter, 2 step-great grandchildren, nephew and nieces. Brother of Earl (best baker Jan). Preceded in death by parents, Sidney and Martha Ray and special cat Barney.
Melvin was an active member of Local 5 Masons Union (ceramic tile setter) for 33 years. He was a Packer fan, but sometimes joked around with his love for da Bears. Mornings spent watching ‘Let’s Make a Deal’ and ‘The Price is Right.’ And true to the way he spent his life with true grit, he spent afternoons watching his sidekick, John Wayne & westerns on Grit TV. Lastly watching ‘Wheel of Fortune’ kept his mind sharp. The family enjoyed visiting with him and listening to his colorful stories of his past. Always knew how to deliver a punchline with the jokes he’d tell. But most of all, he enjoyed soaking a fishing pole and having a beer at the end of his pier at the cottage he built on Long Lake. Dad and Mom spent many hours relaxing at the lake.
Visitation will be held at Mother of Perpetual Help Catholic Parish, 2322 South 106th Street, West Allis, Wisconsin on Friday, December 22, 2023 from 10:00 AM-11:00 AM. Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM. Private entombment at Wisconsin Memorial Park.
