Melrose B. Pederson

Melrose Pederson (nee Wentland), age 91, passed away peacefully on July 26, 2026. Beloved wife of the late Douglas. She was blessed with 5 loving children, Jim (Lisa), Mike, Sue (Paul) Acker, Don, Terri (Charlie) Sanders. A proud grandmother of Carrie (Kevin) Schiebenes, Jason (Katy) Dunn, Chris Pederson, Kelly (James) Rydlewicz, Ryan (Lauren) Pederson, Erin (Jack) Wallisch, Nikki (Justin) Byers, Brandon (Riley) Pederson, Ben Sanders, Jack Sanders, step-grandmother of Greg Kowalski and 11 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother-in-law, Larry Pederson and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Douglas Pederson, parents, John and Regina Wentland, mother-in-law and father-in-law, Mabel and Halvor Pederson, brother, Ronald (Rosemarie) Wentland, sisters, Arlette (Richard) Tomczyk, Nancy (Harry) Glowacki and daughter-in-law, Cindy Janick-Pederson.

A devout Catholic, Melrose lived her faith through both prayer and service. She was a devoted member of her parish, St. Aloysius, for many years, where she generously volunteered at church events and was always willing to lend a helping hand. She formed lasting friendships with different groups of people such as the Milwaukee County University Extension Homemakers, the Homeboners Auxiliary Card Club that Doug belonged to and with many members of her church. She and Doug loved to travel with their friends. She loved to sew and enjoyed watching the Game Show Channel, playing games with family and friends, especially bowling, bingo, sheepshead and any game her grandchildren wanted to play.

More than anything, Melrose cherished time spent with her family. Some of her happiest memories were made at her camper at Sheltering Oaks Campground, where she spent many wonderful summers. Whether sharing meals, relaxing around the campfire, or simply enjoying each other’s company, the campground was a place where family traditions were made and treasured. She also enjoyed baking, especially birthday cakes for her children and grandchildren.

She will be remembered for her unwavering faith, generous heart, and the love she gave so freely to her family and friends. Her kindness, warm smile, and joyful spirit will be deeply missed, but the memories she created will remain in the hearts of all who loved her.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Mother of Perpetual Help Parish, 2322 South 106th Street, West Allis, Wisconsin 53227 on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, at 12:00 PM. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM – 11:45 AM. A private interment will be with family the following day.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to everyone who offered their prayers, support, and love during this difficult time. May Melrose rest in the peace of Christ, reunited with those who have gone before her, and may her memory continue to be a blessing to all who knew and loved her. A special thanks to Clement Manor staff in Clare Suites Memory Care who cared for her over the last 3 years and Allay Hospice who went above and beyond to care for her in her final days.
