Mary (nee Sattler) Zunker
Entered eternal life on Easter morning at age 92. Mary died peacefully at home in the Milwaukee area. Her son, Jeffrey W. Radke, and his family cared for Mary so she could continue to live independently at home.
Her immigrant parents, Michael Sattler (Fraundorf, Romania) and Katherine Lutch (Bondorf, Romania), met and were married in Cleveland, OH. They later moved to Milwaukee, where Mary was born in 1925. She was the youngest of her siblings: George (Verona) Sattler, John (Helen) Sattler, Michael Jr. (Whilhelmine) Sattler, Emil (Jane) Sattler, Katherine Sattler(June Mathewson – partner), Sophie (Frank) Branka (formerly Monroe), and Rudolf Sattler.
Mary’s mother died when she was 16 years old. Afterwards, she lived with her brother, John, and his wife, Helen. When Mary was 18, she married Walter Radke, Jr. They were married for 14 years. Later, Mary was married to Melvin E. Zunker.
Mary worked a sales clerk and waitress. She enjoyed socializing with friends, reading books, solving crossword puzzles and following the news. Mary took pride in looking her best at every age. She also took pleasure in living with her cherished antique furniture.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, siblings, and both husbands. She is survived by her son, Jeffrey (Carol) Radke, grandson, Stephen (Tanya) Radke, and granddaughter, Victoria (Eric) Nelson. She is also survived by her great grandchildren, Charlotte Nelson, Annabelle Nelson and Cameron Radke.
Private funeral services will be held. Interment will be at Wisconsin Memorial Park in Milwaukee, WI.
