In lieu of flowers, memorials to education scholarships at Alverno College in Maria’s name would be appreciated (3400 S. 43rd Street Milwaukee, WI 53215).

(Nee Gawrysiak) Entered God’s loving arms on September 6, 2016, at the age of 70 as a result of cancer. Beloved mother of Christopher (Eva) Donohoo and Ann (Jeff) Loomans. Adoring grandmother of Connor, Reese, and another grandchild on the way. Daughter of Maria and the late Siggy. Sister of Thomas (Mary Pat) Gawrysiak, Diana Jeske, Julie (James) Hartinger-Krogman, and the late David Gawrysiak. Also survived by the father of her children Robert Donohoo. Maria was loved by many other relatives and dear friends.

Memorial Gathering at St. Mary Catholic Faith Community, 9520 West Forest Home Avenue, on Friday, September 16, 2016, from 10:00 AM – 11:45 AM. Mass of Christian Burial at 12:00 PM. Entombment at St. Mary Catholic Cemetery.

A special thank you to the staff at Zilber Family Hospice for their exceptional care.

Maria was a devoted elementary school teacher with Milwaukee Public Schools for more than 30 years, retiring from Zablocki Elementary School in 2003. She was also a long-time parishioner of St. Mary Catholic Faith Community. Maria loved to travel, shop, Jazzercise, garden, and cheer at her grandchildren’s sporting events.

You are an angel among us and will always be loved, remembered, and dearly missed.

I'm so sorry for your loss. May you find comfort from your memories, as well as the comfort found in God’s word the bible. Romans 5:12 says, "That is why, just as through one man (Adam) sin entered into the world and death through sin, and thus death spread to all men because they had all sinned." How loving of God to promise what is found at Revelation 21:4 which says, “And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away.”
Sandra Orcholski left a message on September 12, 2016:
Maria and I worked at Zablocki School for many years and both of us retired from the Milwaukee Public Schools in 2013. I am unable to attend the services because I will be visiting family in Memphis from 9/13- 9/20. To her family, I offer my deepest sympathy and will keep you in my thoughts and prayers. Maria had a good heart.
