On May 15, 2026, Lula M. Sallie Stewart completed her earthly journey, leaving behind a legacy of faith, kindness, and service. She was preceded in death by her parents Ora Bell and William Sallie, her stepmother, Geneva Sallie; 3 brothers: Clyde (Ann) Sallie, William Sallie, and James Sallie and two sisters, Lennie Wright and Louise Love. She is survived by and will be deeply missed by four brothers: Claude (Bernice) Sallie, Jessie (Gloria) Sallie, Henry Sallie, and Ernest (Rebecca) Sallie; and four sisters: Arneada Smithalexander, Marie (Frank) Walker, Mary Sallie, Lennie Lewis and her former husband Willie Stewart. As well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
She was born on June 23, 1943, in Montgomery County, Duck Hill, Mississippi to a large, loving family. Lula’s life was shaped by resilience and purpose. At 14, she moved to Grand Rapids, Michigan, where she pursued her education at Central High School and Davenport College. Her path later led her to Detroit, where she met and married Willie Stewart. As a military wife, she embraced each new home with grace, forming deep connections and discovering a spiritual family among Jehovah’s Witnesses. After Willie left the service, she and Willie settled in Milwaukee, where Lula poured her heart into her ministry. Field service became one of her greatest joys, a place where her warmth, compassion, and faith shone brightly in the name of Jehovah.
One of Lula’s greatest joys in life was her field service in Jehovah’s name.
A Memorial Service will be held at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses 5747 North 29th Street, Milwaukee, Wisconsin on May 30, 2026, at 2:30 PM.
The Sallie Family wishes to express our sincere appreciation to the Jehovah’s Witness Family for their kindness and support during this difficult time.
