Lori Anne O’Brien passed peacefully on Sunday, November 5, 2017 at the age of 53. She is survived by her best friend and husband, Ted, children Cody and Casey, father Tom, sister Jeni, brothers Pat, Scott, and Mick, and sisters-in-law Marie and Piper. She was preceded in death by her mother Marilyn and cousin Dori.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 18, 2017 with visitation from 10:00 AM – 11:15 AM, service from 11:30 AM – 12:00 PM, and reception/light lunch at 12:00 PM. All family and friends are welcome to join.

Lori was an open ear, a forgiver, a whenever-you-need-her, whatever-you-need-her-for daughter, sister, wife, and mother. She lived a quiet life spent feeling proud and mindful of the people that she loved. She cared for her family without expectation of reciprocity. She was stubborn without fail. She was raw and real, never pretentious. She wielded weapons of strength and resilience as if she’d been born with them in hand. Whenever she was too hard on herself, her family made sure to be soft on her to make up for it. She knew, above all, that life is for the loving. And we loved her all of the days of her complicated, beautiful life.

Among the baby pictures and rosaries on her bedside table sits a passage that gave her much comfort:

“All who are weary,

all who are burdened down,

come to me and I will give you rest.

My yoke is easy,

my burden feels so light.

come to me and I will give you rest.”

Happy Birthday, Lori. It's hard to believe it's been almost seven years since you passed. As you would have turned 60 today, I’m reflecting on both the joy of your memory and the sadness of your absence. Everything is so bittersweet without you. You’d be so proud of your family Lor! Felt you there with us on St. Patrick’s Day weekend/movie night. Listening to this album, sung and written by your daughter Casey, sure hit home. This is a gift both you and Ted cultivated and inspired in her. We all carry you with us. Manifesting your essence in so many different ways. Hi Sis, Since Pat came here and left you a message, thought I'd do the same. I hope he is finally at peace and wrapped in the arms of you, mom, and dad. You two were called home so early, maybe it is true what that say that "only the good die young." We miss you all so much. Missed ya today woman but felt ya right there with Mom n Dad at the same time. Thanks 2 Jeni we had our virtual Christmas today. Long story but I'm sure you and Mom n Dad know because someone has been watching over all of us!! Love and miss ya Lor, see ya when I get home.

Thank you Lori for lighting up the life of my brother, Ted. Your love, strength and life wisdom offered a foundation for him and for your beautiful children. You faced more adversity than I would have wished for you in your life on earth. You are loved. You will be missed.

Will miss you very much. We had good and bad times together, however you were my friend, that I will never be able to replace. To your family, I wish and pray for for all of you at this most difficult time. I know how much she loved each and everyone of you.

I've known Lori since she was a child and I hung around with Scott and Mick, much too soon Lori, but you're with the Lord now, rest in peace.

Worked with her, she was wonderful,funny and so full of goodness. She made the time fly. She was an unbelievably wonderful woman with strenghth seldom seen. She will be missed. She made the summer feeding program fun.

She was my deirfiúr, my sister. I had over 4 decades of memories with her, how could I ever choose just one!? She's the one I'd call when I was happy and the one I'd reach for when I was sad. It's a devastating loss, but she has given us many blessings, even in her passing. Most important one...our time here is uncertain. Love truly, madly, deeply. Pursue your dreams today, don't wait for tomorrow. Be the best version of yourself as often as possible. And smile... live in the light and find joy and laughter to consume your days. This is what matters.
