Linda A. McCann (nee Wollemann) – Born into Eternal life on Saturday, October 4, 2025, age 83.
Beloved wife of Donald R. McCann for almost 48 years. Loving mother of Erin C. McCann and James G. McCann. Proud grandmother of Santiago McCann and Glen Marquardt. Cousin of Paul Wollemann, Gerald Wollemann, Debra Wollemann, Carole Huber and Elizabeth Pilachowski. She was also loved by many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents Albert and Esther Wollemann and a brother Lee.
A graduate of South Division High School in Milwaukee, Linda attended classes at UWM and enjoyed her work at Career Academy as a commercial artist. One of the things that attracted Don to Linda was her great sense of humor. She was a member of Gesu parish, and while dating Don they often attended Mass at the St. Joan of Arc Chapel on the Marquette University campus. The Jesuit Priest who offered Mass at the Chapel, married Linda and Don at Gesu church on November 26, 1977. They later moved to Mequon.
She was a member of Lumen Christi Church with her husband, Don, for over 41 years up until her passing. Linda prided herself on the many volunteer positions she held throughout her life, including volunteering as a leader of her daughter’s Girl Scout Troup; organizing and leading a mission outreach program through her church to assist the Working Boys’ Center in Quito, Ecuador later to become The Center For Working Families (C4WF); volunteering with the Ozaukee Humane Society; and at her children’s school at Lumen Christi as a graphic designer. They had 5 cats through the years; usually adopting them at about 10 years old to give them the best years of their life at the end. Linda had a deep love for people and all things art. She instilled these passions in her children.
Linda was a very creative person and liked to make Christmas ornaments and decorations, wood block prints, and designed posters for various groups. She sold her Christmas creations at many holiday craft fairs over the area, specializing in recycling everything and anything in a beautiful way for all to share. She believed in leaving a very small ecology footprint all her life.
Linda loved to visit art museums and they have visited 34 throughout the USA. Linda also loved to travel, and visited nearly every State in the USA, and several countries abroad.. They have visited 56 National Parks, camping with their children and then with a Mazda Miata sports car. They were members of the Badgerland Miata Club for 16 years and went on many drives with the club. They have visited the Vatican, Fatima, Lourdes, St. Francis of Assisi, many European countries, and of course Ireland!
Despite her small stature, Linda was also quite capable of assisting with large, physically demanding projects around the house. Linda was a daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, cousin, and a dear friend. She was truly an amazing person and will be greatly missed. Sincere thanks to all who helped in her care the last few weeks.
Gathering will be at Lumen Christi Catholic Church, 2750 West Mequon Road, Mequon, Wisconsin on Thursday, October 16, 2025. Visitation from 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM, Mass of Christian Burial at 12:00 PM, followed by lunch in St. James Hall at Lumen Christi.
