Leonard A. “Lenny” Vanden Boom Jr. passed away peacefully at home, leaving behind a lifetime of family, friendships, memories, and, if you knew Lenny, more than a few stories.

Len was born on January 7, 1942, to Leonard A. Vanden Boom Sr. and Helen (Siedlecki) Vanden Boom. The oldest of three sons, he grew up in Franklin, Wisconsin, alongside his brothers, Gary and David.

Len shared his life with his loving wife, Sheri E. Vanden Boom. Together, they raised their two children, Stephanie Stoeger (Neil) and Michael Vanden Boom (Carrie), and built a family that meant everything to him.

But one of the roles he cherished most was being Grandpa Lenny to Conner, Bree, Breckem, and Audrey. He took a genuine interest in their lives, loved being part of what they were doing, and was incredibly proud of each of them. His four grandchildren held a very special place in his heart, and there was never any question how much Grandpa Lenny loved them, or how much they loved him.

Len was preceded in death by Sheri, his parents, Leonard Sr. and Helen, and his brother, David. He is survived by his children and grandchildren, and his brother, Gary.

To many, he was Coach. To others, Boomer. To us, he was Dad and Grandpa Lenny.

Lenny had a way of making an impression and leaving people with a story to tell. He was a familiar face, a loyal friend, a husband, father, grandfather and coach, and someone who truly enjoyed the people and places he loved.

And rather than a traditional funeral, we think Lenny would much rather have everyone get together at one of his favorite places, have a drink, share some laughs, and tell stories.
