Katie Harris-Smith was born October 27th, 1955 in Jackson, Mississippi to the union of Samuel and Isabella Harris. She gave her heart to God at an early age and renewed that relationship later in life. God prepared Katie for a wonderful life of service to Him and mankind.
Katie met and Married Pedro Moreno and their love for each other was obvious. They shared that love with their four daughters. Sharonda, Elizabeth, Sonya and Alicia. Pedro preceded Katie in death.
Katie met and married Raphael Smith and a son, Donte, was born to that union.
Katie was truly loved by all who knew her. Her smile and laughter was contagious. She enjoyed spending quality time with her family and taking road trips. In her leisure time she enjoyed fishing and sitting outside in the sun. She also enjoyed scrapbooking and photography. Katie was committed to making the things of God her priority. She loved serving and took pleasure in being a blessing to others, always seeking first the kingdom of God. She loved to worship and praise in the house of the Lord and study His word.
On June 8th, 2008, Katie accepted the opportunity of Jeremiah 3:15 “And I will give you pastors according to mine heart, which shall feed you with knowledge and understanding”.
Katie was truly a Prayer Warrior and could be called upon at any time of the day or night to pray. She will be greatly missed by everyone who knew and loved her.
On Saturday, April 20, 2019, Katie peacefully transitioned from labor to reward with family and friends by her side at Froedtert Hospital in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
Katie is survived by her five children Sharonda, Elizabeth (Sean), Sonya, Alicia and Donte and her mother, Isabella Tabor. She is also survived by five sisters Eva, Rosie, Betty, Vicky and Laverne, four brothers James, Joe, Cleo, and Larry. She will also be missed by her eleven grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her father Samuel Harris and her brother Richard Harris.
Celebration of Katie’s life will be held at The Salvation Army West Corps, 1645 North 25th, Milwaukee, WI 53205, on Friday, May 3, 2019. Viewing 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM.
Celebration starts at 12:00 PM. Repast immediately following services.
