Karla Mary Krumbiegel, a life-long resident of the City of Milwaukee, passed away at the age of 81 in South Milwaukee on March 28, 2024.
Karla was born to the late Edward and Callista (Purtell) Krumbiegel at St Joseph’s in Milwaukee. She graduated from Washington High and went on to earn a degree in Education from Marquette University. Karla worked for the City – Milwaukee Water Works – for four decades.
She enjoyed family gatherings with her many cousins in the surrounding Milwaukee area, as well as traveling domestically and abroad. In her youth, Karla was a Milwaukee Braves fan, attending games with her family at County Stadium. She also could be found playing piano or flute, and, outdoors, hopscotch on the sidewalks of 50th Street. In the winter, she enjoyed ice-skating at the Washington Park lagoon. Many will remember her for her numerous years as a public employee, astute wit, and advocacy for children, through teaching early-on, and later her dedication to St. Jude’s.
Karla will be missed by her siblings as well as extended family in Dodge and Milwaukee Counties. She is survived by her sister Kathleen and brother Ed (Janean) and was preceded in death by her sister Karen.
Contributions may be made to St Jude Children’s Research Hospital, a charity that Karla supported.
