Judith “Judy” Joy Esser (nee’ Remington), age 88, of Pewaukee, WI, passed away peacefully on December 23, 2024. Born on July 17, 1936, Judy lived a life marked by compassion, dedication, and a steadfast commitment to nurturing and guiding others. Judy firmly believed that one of an adult’s greatest responsibilities is to help children navigate life’s challenges- and she lived that belief every day. As a devoted mother, she consistently supported and guided not only her own children, but their friends and peers as well. She inspired learning through example, and taught responsibility and compassion, often through the joyful chaos of a household filled with pets of all sizes.
She was a lifelong supporter of the arts and athletics, ensuring her children had opportunities to experience music, dance, and sports. Judy was deeply involved in her community through the Elmbrook Swim Club and the Oconomowoc Lake Club where her leadership and energy were always present.
Later in life, Judy became an accomplished professional bringing her warmth, creativity, and determination to her work at Andre’s of Oconomowoc and Hixon’s. Judy was the proud mother of seven children and is lovingly survived by six: William Brian Esser (Helen), Todd Charles Esser (Michelle), Kevin Remington Esser (Dawn), Beth Bernadette Esser (Timothy Edwards), Scott Lawrence Esser, and Julie Esser Hill (Wesley). She is now joined in eternal life by her beloved son, Paul Richard Esser.
She was also a cherished grandmother of 15 and great-grandmother of seven.
Judy’s life was a testament to love, learning, and laughter. Her legacy lives on in the lives of the many she nurtured, inspired, and loved.
A Celebration of Life will be held in Judy’s honor on Thursday, July 17, 2025 at St. Anthony’s on the Lake Catholic Church, W280N2101 Prospect Avenue, Pewaukee, Wisconsin, with visitation beginning at 9:00 AM, and service at 11:00 AM. A coffee gathering will follow the service.
