Juan Ferreira

We are deeply saddened to share that on January 31, 2025 our dear father Juan Ferreira passed away peacefully surrounded by his family. He was 95 years old.

Juan was born in San Sebastian, Puerto Rico the fourth of 12 children. He was the devoted husband of Emilia Ferreira, they shared their love for over 67 years until her passing in 2022.

Together they raised seven children: Julio (Barbara), Perfecto (Lyn), Jose (Amy), Lydia, Emily (Raymond), Jennie (Jose), and Nilda (Peter). Julio preceded him in death. The family continued growing with 23 grandchildren, 37 great grandchildren, and 10 great great grandchildren. They raised their kids in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and when he was finally able to retire he exchanged the cold for sunshine moving to Lakeland, Florida.

His wife Emilia learned biblical truths that forever changed her outlook on life. Her resilient faith moved him to also study the bible and on June 11, 1966 he was baptized as a Jehovah’s Witness. His strong faith moved him to share his hope for the future with all and comfort others in their time of need.

When his kids were young he often took them fishing. His favorite pastime was playing dominos with friends and family. He especially liked adding up his points out loud… when he was winning. He enjoyed being outside in the yard whether planting gandules or relaxing on his hammock soaking in the warmth of the sun. He was exceptionally loved by his family and greatly appreciated by friends. Thank you Papi/Lito for sharing your love and sense of humor with us. Living to 95 was an accomplishment, yet it still doesn’t feel long enough. We will never forget your hearty laugh, kind eyes, and amazing white hair. In your own clever words; “Nos vemos, nos vimos y nos miramos”.

Visitation will be held at: Krause Funeral Home, 12401 West National Avenue, New Berlin, Wisconsin on February 13th at 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM with a funeral service at 12:00 PM. An online viewing option will be available for those unable to attend in person.

Juan Ferreira se durmió en la muerte el 31 de enero de 2025, en su casa junto con su familia. Hijo de Candelaria y Felipe Ferreira nació el 14 de octubre de 1929 en San Sebastián Puerto Rico. Fue el cuarto de 12 hijos (Maximino, Cosme, Amelia, Juan, Porfiria, Aleja, Felicita, Felipe, Emilio, Manuel, Beatriz y Brunilda).

En 1955 conoció a Emilia (Milla) y se enamoraron casi de inmediato. Llegaron a formar una familia con un total de siete hijos e hijas: Julio (Barbara), Perfecto (Lyn), José (Amy), Lydia, Emily (Raymond), Jennie (José), y Nilda (Peter). Con el tiempo tuvieron 23 nietos, 37 bisnietos y 10 tataranietos.

A lo largo de su vida sus prioridades fueron su fe y su familia. El gran ejemplo de aguante y fe de su esposa Milla lo motivó a conocer a Jehová. Le dedicó su vida y se bautizó el 11 de junio de 1966. Tuvo el privilegio de servir como anciano en la primera congregación en español en Wisconsin. Muchos tienen gratos recuerdos del apoyo que les dio durante sus momentos difíciles. La congregación lo recordará por su gran sonrisa y abrazos que les brindaba a todo al que se acercaba. Cuando le preguntaban “¿Cómo estás?” El respondía “¡Como un Cañón!”.

Juan tenía buen sentido de humor. Podía pasar horas riéndose a carcajadas viendo su programa favorito “Funniest Videos”. Le encantaba ver los juegos de béisbol de los Brewers. Más que nada disfrutaba jugar dominó con su familia y apreciados amigos. Hasta en su avanzada edad de 95 años, él podía sumar sus puntos y si estaba ganando lo hacía con más ganas. Cuando se retiró y se mudó lejos del frio a Florida; le encantaba cosechar sus gandules, habichuelas de su jardín y recoger la chinas (naranjas) de su árbol.

Sus nietos lo recordarán como un abuelito amoroso que los llevaba (en la guagua azul) a McDonald’s para mantecado y papitas fritas. Nunca le faltaba su pañuelo y su pluma que si la prestaba decía “tiene vuelta”.

Juan agradecía las muchas muestras de amor de su familia y amigos. Hasta le brillaban los ojos cuando muchos lo consentían trayéndole sus antojitos favoritos.
