Joycelyn Jakubowski

Died peacefully at home, Monday, August 8, 2016. Age 73. Beloved wife of the late Thomas T. Jakubowski. Loving mother of Michael (Sandy Patyk), Troy (Colleen) and DeAnna O’Grady (John). Dear grandmother of Morgan, Cameron, Vincenza and Etta.

Sister of Carol Woda, Ronald (Marion) Sopa, Rita Kulinski (Dr. Bob) and Renee Flink. Sister-in-law of Dennis (Mary) Jakubowski, Ronald (Vickie) Jakubowski and Bruce Jackson.  Preceded in death by her parents Bernard and Irene Sopa.

Visitation at Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish, 1212 S. 117th Street, West Allis, WI on Thursday, August 11, 2016 from 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM. Funeral Mass at 4:00 PM with a meal to follow in the IHM Parish Hall. Attendees are asked to wear something yellow for Joyce. Private interment at Wood National Cemetery.

Joyce faithfully supported her community and parish – from packing food for Haiti, mentoring newlyweds, baking bread and distributing Holy Communion at Mass and West Allis Memorial Hospital as one of the first lay ministers, teaching Catholic education to grade school and high school students, serving in the parish council and Human Concerns committee to marching in the front row of the IHM Original All Kazoo Band while raising money for many charity organizations.

As a former licensed beautician, Joyce provided hair care at multiple Senior Care facilities after retiring.

Joyce “The Jack” loved the beach and the pursuit of the perfect seashell.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to the American Cancer Society supporting Ovarian Cancer research and treatment in Joyce’s memory appreciated.
