Even after being slowed down with her knees and breathing problems she kept her desire to be independent and remained a force to be reckoned with if you got on her last nerves. We always shared memories of the past with her taking credit for my first fights in grade school by asking me who could hit harder the kid tormenting me or her....it was her and I fought the next day and the next until the kids thought I was crazy and left me alone. So many stories and so many laughs and thanks. She loved my son when others didn't and thought he was too difficult and he has very fond memories of the times they shared. I envision her now without pain or worries having laughs with those gone on before her, catching them up with the latest news and keeping an eye on those she left behind. We had a wonderful last visit and we spoke on the day she would be with God. Love you Aunt Joy with a bushel and a peck and a hug around the neck forever. Gay

I was blessed to know your Mom since I was 7. She always knew when I needed someone to talk to or was hungry and welcomed me into her home like family. She showed me kindness. The last time I saw her she said she didn't like walker but she was going to keep moving. That was her, resilient, strong and caring. She was a wonderful mother and truly kind woman. I will always remember her beauty inside and out and gratitude. Joy was a Joy and a gift to this world. You will be missed MY friend and 2nd mother. My heartfelt condolences to your family!

Joy has been a great next door neighbor for 46 years. We remember when she spent the whole day grilling, sometimes using 2 grills. We will miss her.
