Died peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on Monday, July 26, 2021, at the age of 77. Loving husband of Virginia “Ginny” (nee Landkowski) for 55 years. Beloved father of Carolyn (Madhu) Kuttan, John (Diana) Lagerman, and Suzanne Lagerman. Proud grandfather of Rohan Kuttan, Kiran Kuttan, Nicolas Lagerman, Alexander Lagerman, and Abigail Gava. Joe is also survived by brothers Francis (Ruth), Thomas (Marilyn), Paul, and Patrick (Joan). He will also be missed by many other family members and friends.

 

Preceded in death by his grandson Milan Kuttan, siblings Allen Lagerman and Rita Wasleske, and his parents Thelma and Joseph Lagerman Sr.

 

Joe was a detective for the Milwaukee Police department for over 30 years. He also went on to become Assistant Chief of Public Safety for the Housing Authority of the city of Milwaukee.
In his retirement, he enjoyed traveling and visiting family. He also enjoyed walks through the woods, hunting with his brothers, playing sheepshead or cribbage, and playing board games with the grandkids. Joe made friends wherever he went, but above all, Joe was a family man.

 

The family would like to extend a special thank you to nurse Linda and Aurora At Home Zilber Family Hospice for their wonderful care of Joe in the last weeks of his life.

 

A memorial gathering will be held at Krause Funeral Home, 9000 West Capitol Drive, Milwaukee, Wisconsin, 53222 on Saturday, August 14, 2021, from 1:00 PM until 5:00 PM.

Joe will be remembered by all who knew him for his infectious smile and genuine warmth.
