John passed away in his home surrounded by the love of his family on Monday July 20, 2026, at 73 years of age.
Loving husband of Linda for 52 years. Wonderful father of Ryan (Amy) Wachowiak, Kathryn (Kevin) Fischer, and Amy (Jim) Zemek. Adored grandfather to Connor, Owen, Colton and Elliott. Beloved brother to Gerald (Karen) Wachowiak Jr., Suzanne (Jim) O’Grosky and Sandra (Tim) Bartoszewski. Survived by numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and lifelong friends. Preceded in death by his parents Gerald and Lucille Wachowiak and cherished grandson Wyatt.
John loved the outdoors. In his younger days he pitched baseball at Sheridan Park and enjoyed hunting and fishing with family and friends. His greatest passion was gardening both at work and at home. For 48 years he transformed his yard into a place of beauty that brought pleasure to all who passed by.
Above all else, John loved his family. He was a devoted husband, a proud father and grandfather, a loving son and brother, and a loyal friend whose warm and friendly presence was impossible to ignore. He had an amazing sense of humor, and a rare ability to make everyone around him feel seen, welcomed, and valued.
A Celebration of John’s Life will be held on Friday August 14, 2026, at Krause Funeral Home, 12401 West National Avenue, New Berlin, Wisconsin 53151. Visitation will be held from 1:00 PM – 2:45 PM and Funeral Service at 3:00 PM. A meal will follow at Meyer’s Restaurant Bar & Banquet Hall at 4260 South 76th Street, Greenfield, WI 53220. All are welcome.
John liked to dress casually so please wear whatever you feel most comfortable in.
