On Friday, October 30, 2026, John T. Kovac went home to be with the Lord. He passed peacefully at home, surrounded by his family.
John met the love of his life, Joanne, in high school, and the two shared over 60 years together, 57 of them as husband and wife. Joanne was also his best friend, and some of his
happiest moments were spent with her after work, whether out on cocktail cruises on the lake or relaxing on the porch watching the sun set over the water.
John had the biggest heart. He was compassionate and caring, and he cherished his family above all else. He never let a day go by without checking in on the people he loved, and for
years he and his son traded good-morning messages every single day.
Christmas was a special time for him, and he took great joy in setting up his Dickens Village display, which delighted everyone who saw it.
He was a devoted Brewers fan to the very end. He was thrilled to see them win the World Series, and one of the last things he asked Chad was, “Did the Brewers win?” In their final
chapter together, John and Joanne lived with Chad and Jamie in Milwaukee, where John was surrounded by love and care until the end.
John is survived by his wife and high school sweetheart, Joanne; his son, Chad (Jamie); his sister, Jo Anne (Patrick) McCann; his sisters-in-law, Ruth and Rita; his nieces, Lea,
Stephanie, and Kristina, and his nephew, Tony, to whom he was always their beloved “Uncle Johnny”; and many other family members and friends, all of whom will forever hold
his memory close in their hearts. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Tracy, and his parents, Tom and Jayne Kovac.
Visitation 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM, with service at 1:00 PM, on Tuesday, November 17, 2026 at Krause Funeral Home, 9000 West Capitol Drive, Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
