John S. Allen passed suddenly on Friday, April 19, 2024, age 82. Cherished father of Julie Allen and the late Jodie (David) Gentz. Proud grandpa of Timothy and Matthew Peplinski. Brother of Chris (the late Mike) Trollinger, brother-in-law of Eileen, and loving partner Irene Valentine and her family. Preceded in death by his beloved wife, Judy (nee Mellies), brothers George and Glenn and parents John W. and Harriet (nee Koc).
John was born, raised, and subsequently raised his own family in West Allis, WI. He moved to Waukesha, WI just prior to retiring from a long, successful career in sales starting at Wisconsin Wheel and Rim, moving on to the Howard Salter Company and retiring from Velvac, Inc. In spite of being a traveling salesman, he found the time to become more than just a little involved in the speed skating community. John was a national referee and president of the West Allis Speed Skating Club for approximately seven years in the 1970’s.
As empty nesters, John and Judy loved to travel. In retirement, he continued to be active learning to play golf and participating in local leagues. John loved being grandpa to Tim and Matt. After Judy’s passing, John found both love and a traveling companion with Irene Valentine. He became a loved member of Irene’s family, Kelly and Rob Johnsen, and their children, Corey, Lilly, Clare and Emma Johnsen; Kimberly and Rob Erwin, and their children, Westin and Madison Erwin.
Gathering will be held at St. Mary Parish, 225 South Hartwell, Waukesha, Wisconsin on Friday, May 31, 2024, 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM. Mass at 11:00 AM.
In lieu of flowers, donations to American Institute for Cancer Research are appreciated.
