John “Jack” Patrick Hamilton, born June 3, 1931, to John and Lucille Hamilton, passed away peacefully on January 20, 2025, at the age of 93.
Jack is survived by his son Michael Hamilton (Loretta Snieg), his daughters Kathleen Schultz (Frank) and Susan Hamilton, and his sister Lucille Murphy (Tom). He was a proud grandfather to Patrick Hamilton (Megan), Bailey Hamilton, Rudolph Schultz (Danielle), and Cameron Schultz. He also leaves behind a blessed legacy of great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews who held a special place in his heart.
Raised on Chicago’s north side, Jack attended St. Gertrude grade school and DePaul Academy before joining the U.S. Marine Corps Reserves in 1949. What began as a way to earn beer money led him to serve heroically at the Battle of the Chosin Reservoir in North Korea in 1950. He was blessed and honored to participate in Wisconsin’s Stars and Stripes Honor Flight to Washington, D.C. in April 2019.
After his military service, Jack graduated from Drake University in 1956 and embarked on a successful career. His professional journey included roles at Johnson Motors, Allis Chalmers (Plant Manager and later Manager of Employee and Community Relations), Harley Davidson (Vice President of Human Resources and part owner), AM General (Director of Personnel), and finally as the owner of Uniforce Temp Agency.
Jack was deeply committed to his community, serving as President of the Waukegan City Club, where he spearheaded improvements to local parks. He also volunteered as a presiding officer at polling stations and was a lifelong blood donor to the American Red Cross.
Jack found joy in reading, jazz music, bridge parties, gourmet food, and family vacations. Known for his generous spirit, he delighted in sending surprise treats to loved ones.

Visitation will be held at Krause Funeral Home, 21600 West Capitol Drive, Brookfield, Wisconsin, on Friday, January 31, 2025, from 3:00 PM – 4:45 PM. Service at 5:00 PM, followed by an honor guard. Private interment will be at a later date in Chicago, Illinois.
