John F. Sohne – Born September 17, 1945, in Waukegan, IL, son John E. and Henriette Sohne. His parents preceded him in death. John passed away peacefully on May 9, 2026, at the age of 80, at Froedtert Hospital after suffering a stroke on March 22, 2026. John leaves behind his loving, life partner of 36 years, Judy Faken; his good friend, Doug West; his many pickleball friends he met through the New Berlin Park and Rec Department; and so many other friends he met along the way.
John graduated from Glenhard West High School in 1963. He received a B.S. in Political Science from the University of Wisconsin – Madison in 1967; his M.S.W. in Social Work from the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee in 1976; and a Certificate as an Independent Clinical Social Worker in 1993.
John served in the US Army in Vietnam from 1968-1969.
John retired from Milwaukee County Children’s Court as a Juvenile Probation Officer in 2003 after having served 33 years providing services to troubled teens of Milwaukee County.
John’s hobbies were jogging in multiple races with coworkers, playing softball for Colonel Hart’s teams and playing pickleball. John was very competitive in everything he played. He enjoyed entering football contests with Doug and traveling to Las Vegas to enter those contests, rooting for a Badgers win all the way. A music lover, John, collected a massive record collection and many C.D.’s.
John loved nature and owned a house in central Wisconsin for 18 years. John enjoyed biking and being on the water kayaking. John and Judy has wonderful times camping in Wisconsin and traveling in the U.S., Mexico, Jamaica, Punta Cana and Costa Rica.
John was a very special man with a warm heart and a great sense of humor. May his memory bring comfort to all who knew him.
