John Eldyn Chapel passed away peacefully March 19, 2024, at the age of 87. He was the cherished husband of Susan (Morrow) for 67 years. He was a loving father-in-law to Linda, grandfather of Michael, Robert, Emily, and his five great-grandchildren: Mason, Jackson, Lennox, Laci, and Nora. He was preceded in death by his two sons Scott and Steven, parents James and Gladys and a brother, James.
John grew up in Kenosha, Wisconsin and attended the University of Wisconsin Madison School of Business, class of 1958. He spent his career in the field of information systems as a programmer, system analyst, and consultant. He was an active member of Fox River Congregational Church in Pewaukee where he was an usher and a member of the Fellowship Team for many years. He also belonged to the Elk’s Club in Waukesha. He happily retired in 1998.
After retirement, he loved small building projects, gardening, taking care of the lawn, and making sure the birds were fed. His most cherished memories were made spending time with his grandchildren at their vacation home in Phoenix, Arizona.
A special thank you to our Pastor Lonnie Richardson and his wife Mercedes, and Minister of Congregational Care, Jaquie Quirk, for their love and caring ministry. Also, thank you Brookdale Senior Living and Allay Hospice for the wonderful care he received.
John loved his family very much and enjoyed spending time together. He will be dearly missed by family and friends.
Private services will be held.
Memorials may be made to Fox River Congregational Church Building Fund in Pewaukee, Wisconsin.
