Born to eternal life on Monday, February 12, 2024, at the age of 59 after a short battle with an aggressive kidney cancer.
Loving husband of Patty for 34 years. Proud dad of Brian and David. Cherished son of Harold & Jacqueline McQuillen. Special brother of John McQuillen and sister-in-law Wendy McQuillen. And special brother of Jeff McQuillen and sister-in-law Traci McQuillen. Dear son-in-law of Gene & Ann Newlin. Also loved by brothers-in-laws and sister-in-laws, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and many, many friends.
Born in Mansfield, Ohio, Jerry graduated from Mansfield Senior High School in 1982 and went on to join the Air National Guard and attend Ohio State University. Since his mother was born in Milwaukee, he had many friends and family in the area. He relocated to Milwaukee for a job opportunity. He met his wife, Patty, in April 1988. They were engaged in August and married on July 8, 1989. Their children, Brian and David came along within a few years and so began a life of a very involved dad in every aspect of their lives. Family is everything to Jerry.
The neighborhood in which they lived in Milwaukee was extra special and very close friends from there remain today. If you know Jerry, he created the activity of “porchin’.” This basically was just sitting on our porch as often as possible. Almost 100% of the time, a neighbor or two or 20 would come over to have a few beers and just chat, have an intense political discussion or joke around. After living in the same house for 31 years, Jerry & Patty moved to condo living in 2020 where Jerry continued his “porchin'” with new neighbors!
Jerry had a successful sales career with his favorite selling major sporting event packages.
He loved fishing, golfing or anything Ohio State. Don’t mess with his Ohio State….he took that very seriously!
Another favorite activity would be to go up to their cabin in Friendship, Wisconsin, where they would enjoy the peace & quiet, gather around a bonfire or go boating with Milwaukee friends as they also had cabins nearby.
We will miss Jerry immensely. His big laugh lit up a room. We love you so much.
