Left her loving family on March 25th at the age of 88.
Wife to her most beloved husband David and mother of her most precious son Dennis, both of who preceded her in death. She is survived by her daughters Janice and Vicki (James).
Jeanette “Jennie” was born March 26, 1929 in Sheboygan, Wisconsin, the daughter of the late Ary Sixel and Lois Amundson. Growing up on a farm in Colby, Wisconsin developed her gardening skills for both flowers and vegetables. She liked nothing better than having her hands deep in the soil cultivating God’s earth and sharing the fruits of her labor. Her pet sheep Jay Jay she reared from a lamb was her constant companion providing her family with the wool for her hand-made quilts for many years. She graduated from Colby High School and attended the Milwaukee Hospital School of Nursing and graduated with a nursing degree in 1950.
Jennie had a lifelong love of singing, competing in state vocal contests, participating in madrigal groups, served as a vocalist for local weddings and was a church choir member for over 50 years. As an adult she learned to ring hand bells with her church bell choir. She enjoyed a wide range of hand work avocations; she was an excellent seamstress, liked to knit and crochet and was an avid crafter. She was proud of her Norwegian heritage and learned the art of rosemaling, a Norwegian style of decorative painting. Jennie was a volunteer with the American Cancer Society’s Reach to Recovery program for many years.
Jennie was a lifetime member of the United Church of Christ in Sheboygan and Colby, WI the Immanuel Reformed UCC in Milwaukee, WI and the Union Congregational UCC in Tavares, FL. She was very active in church life in Christian education, historical committees, church governing boards and a variety of service, planning and work groups. She was a dedicated servant to her Lord and to those congregations.
Visitation at Wisconsin Memorial Park, Chapel Of The Flowers, 13235 West Capitol Drive, Brookfield, Wisconsin Thursday, April 5, 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM. Service at 11:00 AM. Entombment to follow.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to her favorite charity, the Back Bay Mission in Biloxi, MS are appreciated.
