Jeanette Elizabeth Fairchild died on December 24, 2023, at the age of 101.

She was born on April 10, 1922 in Washburn, Wisconsin to John and Eugenia (nee Lizotte) Moha. Mom graduated from the University of Wisconsin as a Registered Dietician. She worked as a dietician at Wood,VA until her marriage to Lee Wilson Fairchild on September 5, 1949. When her youngest children were in high school, she returned to work as a dietician, this time in a nursing home.

Mom was the ultimate mother, ensuring that all of her children were equipped with the skills needed to graduate from college and live life on their own. She encouraged her values of hard work, honesty, and kindness in her children.

She enjoyed cooking, especially baking (we seldom had store bought desserts ). We will sorely miss her delicious homemade ravioli, halushki, poppyseed bread, pecan rolls, chocolate sauce, and many pies. Mom enjoyed music, especially Elvis & Bach sonatas for cello. She never missed our school concerts. She was the family Scrabble champion (even as adults we couldn’t beat her). In her later years, she drove people to church and for groceries, took communion to shut-ins, and watched birds out the kitchen window.

She is survived by her children James Fairchild, Michael (Juliana Schmidt) Fairchild, Patricia Fairchild, Peggy Fairchild, Ann (Bruce) Fairchild-Mardiney, Richard (Bonnie) Fairchild, Joan (Steve) Daniels, Lynn (Paul) Trachte, 17 grand children, 14 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her husband of 32 years, her siblings, and her parents.

A private family service will be held at a later date.

The family wishes to thank the staff and volunteers at the Village of Manor Park for their nurturing care of Mom during her final years.

My deepest sympathy & prayers to the Fairchild family in the loss of their mom. Jeanette was more than special. She & Lee were the helm of a great family. They welcomed my sister & I into there family when we were very young. My fondest memories are sharing in the family laughter & joy, ice skating on the pond, swimming at the pool, jumping into the family van to Lee's shop with all the kids to clean the shop, going to church and playing in the backyard sandbox. Jeanette made the best tuna fish sandwiches with fresh lettuce from her garden. These are forever memories from a very special family.

So sorry for your loss… Mrs Fairchild was quite a woman. raising a great family.

I'm so sorry for your loss. Being Lynn's best friend in grade school, I spent a lot of time at their home. Mrs. Fairchild always had a place for me at her table and a kind word for me on her lips. There were countless nights when I'd try so hard to be a big girl and do a sleepover but would succumb to homesickness and this dear woman would bundle up a crying girl and drive her home in that big van. Bless her heart. Even when I was an adult, the Christmas card notes we exchanged always reminded me of her care and kindness. Lynn and I visited her Mom for her 100th birthday. She no longer remembered me but we had a lovely visit and she seemed to appreciate that I was someone who cared for her and thought well of her. I'm so glad that Lynn included me in that visit; it's a precious memory. I'll be praying for comfort for the Fairchild family. I remember most of the younger siblings from our school years and have always thought of you all with fond memories and well wishes.
